I got my Power FC from Japan and tried to install it.

Serial number on Power FC is "PFC SXE10 020-0361"
Part number is "414-T006" (which is correct for 98 altezza Non turbo)
Serial number on the FC commander is "FCC3 020-24295"

This is the exact model for my car.
The Hand controller is the correct model for my car.

Car will not start.
When plugged in and when ignition set to ON:
-Radiator Fans power up
-Fuel pump starts
-Engine check light on (should be off)
-FC Commander does NOT power up (should be on)
-Injectors 1 and 3 are on
-Cylinders 1 and 3 full completely with fuel
-Car will not start due to hydrolic lock in cylinders 1 and 3.

-With the car turned off and the key removed from the ignition, the fuel pump still operates and the injectors are still pumping.

-Car starts and runs normally with stock ECU plugged in once the fuel has drained into the sump.

So here is my problem...
Is the ECU broken?
Is there something i'm doing wrong?
Is there addition wiring that i need to do for this ECU to run that i dont know about?

I have opened it up, there is no visually damage components.

Has anyone had this problem or even heard of this happening to Power FC's?
Any advice/ideas will be appreciated.

Cheers, Mike

........
Is the ECU broken?

These cannot both be true..

So the answer MUST be in here-

I have absolutely no experience with car CPUs (however twin sidedraught Webers are something else!) so I can't offer advice beyond the normal "check that every wire is connected to the right place"

It sounds like they aren't...

Why cannot both be true?
Would you like me to take a video of it, and post it on YouTube?

Thats why i've been ripping my hair out about it, why would Apexi release a Power FC from their shelves that is completely screwed...

anyways, anyone else have any suggestions?

Did you do all of this?

1 - disconnect battery
2 - Disconnect factory ecu
3 - plug in Power FC and hand controller
4 - turn ignition key to on, dont start the car. make sure all your checklights come up on the dash, and the hand controller dispay powers up.
5 - if you're not using the boost control function turn it off
6 - start the car and let idle
7 - after 10 mins of idling, turn your airconditioning on and continue to idle
8 - after another 10 mins of idling turn your demister on and continue to idle
9 - after another 10 mins (thats 30mins in total) you're ready to go.

If you cut short the 30 mins, the thing will stall alot and run like crap.

Ah- So this refers to the Apexi unit-

OK, so the unit could be faulty from the factory, that's one option.

or a wiring fault is the other option...

or a setting-up error may be the third option. Does it automatically zero itself the first time you turn it on, or is there some programming needed for it know when to start..

Quite a few guys on here have used them, so hopefully someone will have an idea.

yes. Step 4 says make sure the Hand Controller powers up.
It doesn't.
Instead it fulls the cylinders up with Fuel.
I have read all the threads that i can possibly find, there is no similar problems that i can find.
I tried the Power FC on a friends Altezza this morning.
I pulled the EFI Relay so that it didn't full his car up with fuel.
The hand controller didn't power up on his car when the Ignition is selected to ON.

I'm pretty certain it's the Power FC unit that is broken.
I changed the oil on my car today and just took it for a run (once i got all the fuel out of the cylinders) and it runs perfectly, so wiring mustn't be at fault.

The setting up options are not available because the Hand Controller doesn't power up, so i can't access any of the sensors or the menus.

Cheers, Mike

Fixed!!

There was a missing earth.
Tested it against my mates Altezza. We disconnected the Fuel pump before connecting it this time, rather than the EFI relay (which the computer needs to run doh).
Powered up fine on his Car.

Checked all my earths and found that 2 of them were open circuit.
I have no idea how the standard computer was working fine without them.

Fixed them up, plugged in the Power FC and away she went.

Thanks for eveyones time,
Mike

For sure,
Getting it dyno tuned on Monday, i was running 117kwatw (hub dyno, massive hole in the midrange torque because of the pod filter) before the extractors and exhaust. I'm hoping for 135kwatw smile.gif

Will post the Dyno results.

Cheers, Mike
