Ouch!

North Shore Toyota/Lexus did that to mine when I got my clutch and flywheel done.

They just miss aligned the box, where did you get it done?
Just go back and they should sort it out for you

Mines the same. It happened after the new fly and clutch were installed.

Not a major problem really.

First is vertical instead of 3rd. 6th is just further towards the driver so you don't have to reach as far wink.gif

thanks for the feedback guys, it was harder to remove the centre console than to flip the gearlever, all good now.
FYI: i have a clutch and flywheel kit, which i bought from trade parts, and then had lightend and balanced.
the car is so much better to drive, smoother, quieter, faster, and a lighter clutch pedel too!
why didnt toyota make it this way in the first place!? w00t.gif

How's the 3000rpm rumble in comparison to stock?

What did the whole conversion cost??

thats what i was expecting, but the car is actually easyer to drive, no more bogging down if you dont have enough revs.
rumble has completly gone!
full kit from trade parts was $875.00 inc
balancing and lightening by balancing specialties new lynn $175.00 inc {highly recommend}
fitting by whangaparaoa toyota $396.00 inc
flywheel has gone from 13.6 kg to 8.8 kg

Is that a solid flywheel or have they managed to lighten the dual mass?

yes it is a solid flywheel, with the same sort of dimensions as the dual mass, so all standard clutch stuff will fit.

Just curious, but wouldnt it have been cheaper to buy something like this:

http://www.fortyone.co.nz/parts/view/14068.html <-- C-One 6.3kg or,
http://www.fortyone.co.nz/parts/view/11307.html <-- Toda

Are these flywheels bolt in or do you also need to replace disc and pressure plate?

yes, you would need a new clutch plate and pressure plate with each flywheel.

Always thought when changing from the dual mass to a solid you would need a different flywheel?

Cause I do know that there are different listings for Altezza clutches, with the dual mass or a solid flywheel.

When we change our clutches, we have to change the flywheel at the same time as the dual mass flywheel is not machinable, and has to be replaced, and at the $1100 retail at Toyota... Its way cheaper to go aftermarket, or even TRD in the case for most of us smile.gif

All three components are different, the flywheel (dual mass or solid) the clutch plates and the pressure plates, so nothing is interchangeable between dual mass or solid systems. Dual-mass clutch plates do not have springs to absorb the transmission shock like a 'normal' clutch plate, that shock is absorbed in the moving flywheel.

That would be the solid flywheel weighting 32lbs, the same as the dual-mass one, plus the TRD organic clutch plate w/o the TRD sticker plus the heavy duty street-race pressure plate. Exedy are making their money by offering solid replacements for dual-mass in Toyota, Nissan & Subaru.

Then you have to get the flywheel lightened yourself. The TRD ones are 7kg, and 8.8kg sounds fine. Really light ones are more difficult to use..

That kit was offered at $800 complete (and lightened!) providing we bought 10 of them as a group buy. Then the TRD deal came up the same.. w00t.gif

However the TRD ones are now $1500 group buy..

Yes totally right Keith

The clutch plate and pressure plate normaly come together with the release bearing when you buy a 'Clutch Kit'

Damn $800!!! I was a bit late when I got mine for $1300 LOL
