I will buy a can of Brakleen tomorrow and clean my MAF sensor on Saturday morning. (26/11/05)

Matt said he's bringing an IS250 around then, so anyone who wants to come around can.

We can try cleaning all the MAF sensors and post up any differences it makes.

I live in Howick, phone me on 0274 965 177 for the address, or PM me.

Say, 9.30 to noon...??

We've already referenced some pics and a write-up over in this thread.

But yeah, if you've got someone who can use the macro mode on their camera properly up there then it wouldn't hurt to make our own version instead of referencing the LOCUK one.

Sorry, thought it was obvious that the object in the middle of the picture, sticking into the intake path and looking exactly like the MAF in the links I posted would be enough for people to figure it out.... My bad! biggrin.gif

Might be too late now but I did mention the electrical contact cleaner plus a link to it in my post with the instructions. The advice I had was keep away from the brakleen as it does work but is not as good for such sensitive electrical devices as it is very corosive to certain materials...

Ooops, sarcasm is dangerous when in text form, it's too easy for people to take the wrong way... That's okay, we all know I'm not a mean bugger... wink.gif

Good point to make about the brakleen there Icarus, there's every change that a chemical formulated to dissolve crud from a metal brake surface is going to dissolve the plastic coating on the thermistor or the whole MAF itself...

So, it's Sunday morning and it's sunny here in Whakatane... How's Auckland?

Auckland is sunny & cloudless at 8am, so its all on this morning!

I'm going out at noon.

...and real menm don't mind Brakleen in their cuts! laugh.gif

Actually. i've bought a different brand, so I will check the plastic problem. CRC Brakleen is perchroloethylene, similar to drycleaning fluid (carbon tetrachloride) and is pretty harmless to plastic. This one smells more of ketones and they can soften up some cheap plastic.
