Hi all,

I currently live in Japan and recently bought an RS200 Qualitat AT. Naturally, I want to modify it. I know that the car is not strong in low-end rev range and have read that putting in the usual air filter, header, exhaust and a piggy back computer will help. However, I havent really read any reviews on the HKS RS Suction Kit. Does anyone know how these perform?

My car already has a Fujitsubo LegalisR muffler and eventually I will put in the Apexi SAFCII as well. Unfortunately, since my has the 5AT, headers from brand names wont just bolt on....

Anyway, here is a pic when it was at the dealer.

A suction kit will only make the low end worse!! Especially the HKS kit.

Thanks for the reply! I was getting worried that no one would actually reply to it.

I have heard that too actually...

But I thought that if you do use a suction kit with a piggy back computer, it will improve the low end part.

Hi Muzza,
I did notice that you do have one yourself. Btw, have you ever tried playing around adjusting the SAFCII? This is something that I would really like to use. I have read somewhere that it is supposed to be help with Intake kit to increase low end power (I dont expect a lot ofcourse).

I had it tuned with safc and haven't touched it since. But that's just me i'm not very technical with gizzmo's myself i downloaded the instruction's and then filed them. Let me know how you get on and what your final desiscion is.

Cheers

Don't think a piggyback will do much good. I believe the problem is that the intake track is very short & the pipe diameter too large. The resulting low air velocity at lower rpm completely screws up the stock MAF sencor's readings and cuses poor performance & hesitation. However, Blitz & Apexi pods have a more conservative venturi pipe diameter (Unlike the sewer pipe HKS), which doesn't allow the airflow speed to go too low at low rpms. Of course, the flopside is that very high rpm power is restricted somewhat.

I did notice that the HKS pipe was quite big (but I do like the look of them).

Does anyone know what the Apexi kit comes with? Does it come with the piping as well?

I do like the suction sound nevertheless so will get some kind of induction kit put in anyway even though I may not increase the power (as long as i dont lose it ofcourse)

Personally i would go with the HKS as i've had no problem at all with mine.
I think all the little increases add up eventually mine actually is starting to feel a bit more perky since i've removed the standard rear muffler and replaced with a aftermarket straight thru one

Here's a real newb question:

I haven't pulled any of it apart yet but it looks like it is integral with the factory airbox!?!?!
So is it? or does it come off??

TIA
